ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hello. I’m Megan Allard, a painter and tattoo artist — specialising in realism and ornamental styles. I grew up in Canada and have now made my home in Sydney, Australia. I create my paintings in my home art studio in Sydney and travel between Australia and Canada to tattoo.
I studied fine arts at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, majoring in painting for my BFA. I love to apply the concepts and techniques I learned in art school to my tattooing. This ensures my tattoos are composed well and flow with the body, in the same way a good painting flows with a canvas and the space it lives in.
INSPIRATION
I gain inspiration from the world around us, finding beauty in plants, animals, humans, and textures found in nature. I am especially fascinated by the way human and animal faces convey emotion and tell stories when you look into their eyes.
Through my paintings and tattoo designs, I like to to explore the relationships us humans have with ourselves, each other, nature, and the universe.
TATTOO VISION
My vision for tattooing is to create beautiful, one of a kind tattoos that reflect the unique qualities and stories of each person I work with. I aim to create tattoos that not only look good, but will look amazing for many, many years to come. Client experience is also highly valued to me, with compassion and clear communication being an integral part of my process.
It is an honour to change people’s lives by creating permanent artwork on their skin, and I will never take for granted the trust that my clients instil in me.
PAINTING VISION
My vision for painting is to create artworks that evoke emotions and ideas within us. To spark conversations with ourselves and with others. To bring the beauty of nature inside the spaces we spend our time in. I aim for viewers to see elements of themselves in the paintings and to find their own meanings within the imagery.
I believe a single artwork can transform a room and set the tone for the energy within it. We can inspire feelings of excitement, sensuality, tranquility, or anything else we desire when we intentionally choose an artwork for a space. My goal is to help people realise their dreams when it comes to curating their homes, offices, and workspaces to be more enjoyable environments to spend time in.
